Beginner's Week 4 Routine

1. Continue to practice diaphragmatic breathing for about five minutes each day.

2. Practice the following postures.
Mountain Posture (standing posture) for 10 seconds
Tree Posture
Triangle Posture
Sitting forward bend with legs crossed (alternate legs).
Then lean back and press down.
Head to knee posture (twice on each side hold for 10 breaths)
Cobra (perform 2 repetitions)
Bridge Posture (perform 2 repetitions 10 breaths each)
Beginning Twist (2 repetitions on each side)
Relaxation: feet up against a wall. (5 min)
Make sure that you do not come up out of this too quickly.

3. Mindfulness
Activity: During a conversation (phone or other), monitor your breathing when the other person is speaking.
Notice if you are holding your breath, thinking of what you are going to say next?Next, try to breathe from the diaphragm during the other person's turn in the conversation.
Try to "breathe the other person in". Notice what happens or doesn't happen.
